We have developed a course specially catering for TAFE trainers to transfer your existing skills, knowledge and experience into the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

TAFE Trainers who meet the entry requirements (listed below) will be eligible to apply for the simplified RPL process to save time and money.

Entry Requirements:


The entry requirements for the TAFE teacher’s fast track are rigorous, so that we can protect the integrity of this qualification for the training professionals and Industry. In order to qualify for the TAFE Teachers Fast Track, you must:

  • Be currently employed at a TAFE institute as a trainer/tutor
  • Have 2 years minimum teaching experience in TAFE utilising nationally endorsed training packages
  • Provide a statement from your Training Manager attesting to your competence, against the specific units you feel your experience maps to (from the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment). This statement could include what training packages you have worked with, qualifications you have trained and assessed in, evidence of having unpacked training packages as per clients requirements, developing assessment tools, validating assessment tools, etc
  • Have computer skills (you will be required to use email, word process & browse the internet)
  • Have access to the internet

How to gain your qualification faster

Recognition of Prior learning (RPL) is “the acknowledgement of the skills and knowledge” that you have gained through previous studies, work and life experiences. If RPL is granted, this will mean that you will not have to complete the study or assessments for a unit or units of competency.

How long does the course take?

You, the student, are completely in control of your own learning schedule. Learning online allows you the freedom to study at home, during your lunch break or from anywhere in the world.

Total nominal hours: 370 hrs | Full time load: 12hrs/wk | Full-time duration: 14 weeks

Maximum 12 months access to online course. (Approx. 10-20 hours to complete each unit). However this course can easily be completed in a short amount of time due to the experience you have obtained working at TAFE.
